Pendant la guerre d’indépendance, cette espèce a été utilisée sur différentes bannières, signifiant l’aspiration à la liberté.

Pendant la route des “Miradores del Monte Ope”, nous découvrirons la colline la plus élevée du village, pleine d’histoire, de symbolisme, de mythes et de légendes, peuplée à l’époque argarique il y a plus de 4000 ans. Grâce à son altitude, nous pouvons contempler de nombreux villages qui forment la vallée de Ricote, la végétation qui irrigue le fleuve Segura avec ses roues à eau et ses canaux d’irrigation, dessiner des vergers en terrain impossible, la forêt riveraine ou la palmeraie du Parque de la Marquesa. Nous pouvons également voir les vestiges médiévaux du château d’Archena, qui communiquait avec les villages les plus proches de la vallée à l’époque mauresque.
